Swimwear styles in the Future
What’s the future of swmwear? Swimwear styles have changed significantly over the years, but recent trends have seen some of the styles coming back in fashion. The boy shorts of the 20’s, the high-waisted bottoms of the 50’s and the high-cut legs of the 80’s have all made a reappearance.
While styles may be repeating, the technology behind swimwear has changed. More brands are offering bra-sized swimwear and extended sizes than ever before.
While Brio has been offering these styles for years, we are so happy to see more brands catching on. Bra-sized swimwear has allowed women with fuller chests to experience the same support as their bra while still looking great.
With size ranges having improved, more brands are finally acknowledging that women do not all come in the same size. Finally, more options are available to a wider range of women.
More Sustainable Materials
The materials behind swimwear have also come a long way in recent years. Many brands are using recycled materials to make their swimsuits eco-friendly. One of the most popular fabrics is ECONYL which is made from recycled plastics like fishing nets and carpets.
Vitamin A, a leader in eco-friendly fabric, has created EcoLux, a soft, matte, jersey material made from recycled nylon. You can find them, and other sustainable swimsuits, at Brio.
Swimwear innovation hasn’t stopped there though. Brands are continuing to find more ways to make their swimwear eco-friendly. From plant-based fabrics, being locally made and getting involved in eco-organizations, brands are redefining how swimwear gets made and how much waste is produced.
We are so excited to see what the swimwear industry creates next and look forward to swimwear continuing to cater to more women than ever.
