Top 5 Swimwear Trends for 2015

At the Miami Swimshow last July we were presented with all sorts of new trends. These aren’t those trends. These are the swimwear trends shown in Miami that survived vetting by the world’s toughest critics, our customers. These are the top 5 swimwear trends that work for real women.

Sporty Chic

Designers have realized that women aren’t just lying around at the beach anymore – they’re paddle boarding, playing volleyball, chasing after kids. They are taking this into account and have designed suits that are as secure as a sport suit but are as beautiful as the best of fashion swimwear. So now you don’t have to chose between looking great and being active.

Secure and fashionable, sporty chic is a trend we can all get behind.

High Necklines

This year we’re seeing high necklines on both one and two piece swimsuits. On a one piece, a high neckline gives a bigger canvas for the print and can help pull the attention up and away from the hips.

If you are trying a high neck two piece, be careful that you chose the right bottom, otherwise you can throw off your proportions and make yourself look wider in the hips.

Retro is a trend that just won’t go away, and that’s a good thing. 1950’s inspired styles bring an elegance and sophistication to the beach. They feature draping that helps to hide a tummy (a good thing) and high waisted bottoms that lengthen the look of your legs (also a good thing).

Side and bra straps have multiplied this year. It’s a great way to add interest to a bikini. No one has done this better than our friends at Luli Fama. Lourdes and Augusto have doubled down on this trend and created stunning bikinis with strappy tops and bottoms.

Colour and Prints

This isn’t a year of one big colour trend. Coral is still strong and aqua suits are selling well in our stores.

There are a lot of great prints this year, but again no one single trend. Tribal prints are looking fresh and new and some companies have done great work with photo realistic prints.

  1. Hi there, I heard your ad on Majic 100 on Sunday and was interested in your bathing suits. I have large breasts, like high necked and high backed bathing suits and have never found a bathing suit that I haven’t had to wear a bra underneath as the bras in all bathing suits are a joke. Bathing suits only have larger cups when the sizes are plus size and I am not that…I just have big breasts. That being said I would be interested in seeing some of the suits you have online but you really don’t have any….do I have to go into the store? I love about 1.5 hours from Ottawa and prefer to check out things online before I make the trek in to town. I look forward to hearing back from you.
